Wells Howard Blodgett was born January 29, 1839 in Downers Grove, IL to Israel P. and Avis (Dodge) Blodgett. Died May 8, 1929 in St. Louis, MO and buried at Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

1st Lieut. 37th Illinois Infy USV August 25, 1861; Captain January 1, 1863; honorably discharged May 20, 1863. Major and Judge Advocate, Army of the Frontier May 20, 1863; vacated commission July 14, 1863. Lieut. Col. 48th Missouri Infy USV September 23, 1864; Colonel November 22, 1864; honorably discharged June 29, 1865.

Awarded the Medal of Honor under resolution of Congress for most distinguished gallantry near Newtonia, MO September 30, 1862.

Col. Wells Howard Blodgett, 48th MO Infy USV was elected a Companion through the CA Commandery September 16, 1885 Insignia #4014, was a charter member of the MO Commandery October 21, 1885, served as Sr. Vice Commander 1894-1895, Commander 1895-1896, and Council 1896-1901.
