HEMPSTEAD, Stephen (CT Cont) St. Louis Co.-(MOLLUS)
Stephen Hempstead b.May 6, 1754 in New London, CT, came to St. Louis 1811, d.1831 in St. Louis. He joined the Revolutionary army at the breaking of the war, was with the first troops at Boston, under arms in NY, heard the Declaration of Independence read while under arms with the troops, was in the forlorn hope that attacked the British frigate in New York Harbor, was at the retreat from Long Island, and closed his military career at Fort Trumbull, where he was bayonetted and received many wounds, and by accident escaped being dumped into the river as dead.

O'FALLON, James Dr. (Surg ? Cont) St. Louis Co.-(MOLLUS)
Dr. James O'Fallon was born in Athlone, Ireland, came to America prior to the Revolution and served as a Surgeon in the Continental Army. He married Frances Clark, youngest sister of Gen. George Rogers Clark in 1790. James died 1793 in Louisville, KY.
War Service: Enlisted in Spotsylvania Co., VA, served in VA Line/Militia and in NC.

THOMAS, Mark (Capt VA-IL Regt) Jefferson Co.-(MOLLUS)
Mark Thomas was commissioned Capt. in th VA-IL Regt. in Culpeper Co., VA in 1779 and served in KY and IL until 1783. After the war he lived in the Louisville, KY area from 1783-1792, moved to St. Clair Co., IL in 1792, and soon after to St. Louis Co. where he died in 1813 (present day Jefferson Co., location of grave not presently known). He m1.Ann (Patton) in (VA) and m2.(Mary Harrison) in (IL/MO).
